Tetsuko, whom everyone calls Toto-Chan, is a little girl full of life that leads her teacher's hard life, who ends up sending her away. His parents decided to enrol him in Tomoe, a school not like any other where old cars act as classrooms. Totto-Chan, the little girl in the window is a jewel of animation that we discovered during his premiere at the Annecy 2024 festival where he was awarded the Paul Grimault Prize. Released in room on the 1stand January 2025, the film directed by Shinnosuke Yakuwa went through World War II by the prism of this little girl, not like the others. Touching, splendid and free from the carcan of one and even animation technique, Toto-Chan starts the year in beauty. We let you discover our exclusive interview of his director on this brilliant adaptation of the eponymous manga.
