For those who travel through the festivals, maybe Robert Morgan's name immediately gives you cold sweats. If you've been to the Hallus in Lyon for the last 15 years, you've probably had the chance to attend. The Cat With HandsBelials Dream or Tomorrow I will Be Dirt, probably the most disturbed of all his shorts. With the release this year of his feature film Stop Motion, it seemed essential to share with you the work of this macabre artist. Even more radical than the excellent Junkhead or Mad GodThese shorts do not suffer from any concessions. Never. Sensitive friends abstain, Morgan's work mixes lubricated desires with morbid appetite with black humour in tune. A world bathed in horror, like a distant nightmare where Jan Švankmajer, Francis Bacon, Edgar Allan Poe and Cronenberg would have merged into a maelstrom of flesh and fluids!

Selection of "gorifiques" courses

Bobby Yeah

Release date : 2011 | Where to see the movie? YoutubeDuration : 23 min

It is one of Robert Morgan's longest courts. Awarded to BAFTA 2011, Bobby Yeah is one of the biggest hits of its Youtube channel with nearly 75k views. With his naughty, hyper expressive trick, this torve-eyed rabbit will suffer the consequences of his larceny... Precipitous in a deluge of mutations all more horrible than each other, good old Bobby will have to defend himself! It's disgusting how you like it and it's not a joke. A good door into Morgan's universe before going to see his more trash movies like Tomorrow I will be dirt

Tomorrow I will be dirt

Release date : 2019| Where to see the movie? YoutubeDuration : 8 min

Tomorrow I will be dirt carries his name wonderfully well. This morbid fantasy presents itself as a tribute and a near-sequence to the film Schramm and compilation Love & Death of the Jörg Buttgereit, with imagination no less disturbed than Morgan's. We follow a character tortured by his crimes and confronted with a real mass grave that loaves. A pretty crazy audacity between mutilatory scarifications and necrophilic impulses. To show your grandmother who's pounding you that « animation is for children » !

Belial's Dream

Release date : 2017 | Where to see the movie? Youtube | Duration : 5 min

Also commissioned by Arrow Film (without which Morgan's exhibition would probably not be the same), Belials Dream we are witnessing the saugrenus fantasies of a fetishist monster. Always as much second degree with an abrupt ending as you like. Monsters too have the right to dream...

D is for Deloused

Release date : 2014 | Where to see the movie? Youtube | Duration : 4.5 min

Still in the section « Enjoy your meal of course. », D is for Deloused is one of the segments of anthology The ABC of Death 2. On the menu, a prisoner tied up ready to be tortured. A court that reminds us that abuse is never as pleasant as when you can share it with your executioner... Friends of black humour, you will be filled.

Ray Incident

Release date : 2024 | Where to see the movie? YoutubeDuration : 4 min

More musical than the other shorts in this selection, Ray Incident, Incidental 38: Strange action at distance from its full name is one of the most cryptic films in this selection. Robert Morgan explains his approach: « When I heard Ray Incident's song, it seemed very fragmented and chaotic, but it contained swirling patterns that were hypnotic. Images of kaleidoscopes came to my mind, accompanied by some kind of malicious hypnosis ritual... I shot the film in sequence, and mounted as I went, allowing myself to be guided by music rather than some narrative logic. » A sensory experience that They have changed their faces, slice in this selection.

The Cat With Hands

Release date : 2001 | Where to see the movie? Youtube | Duration : 3.5 min

The Separation

Release date : 2003 | Where to see the movie? Youtube Duration : 9 min

They Have Changed Their Faces

Release date : 2022 | Where to see the movie?
