Presented in preview for the opening of the European Festival of Fantastic Film in Strasbourg, Man shrinking is a modern rereading of Richard Matheson's eponymous film and novel. The director especially known for his explosive films as 99 Francs or Doberman which launched his career, returns to a more introspective form this time. Jan Kounen saw things as he grew up using atypical techniques to simulate the smallness of Jean Dujardin, in the role of a family father in crisis that mysteriously narrows overnight. We exchanged with Jan Kounen on the back of the set and the filming secrets. More than 70 years after the first film that saw things big, Jan Kounen also had to ruse to deceive the spectator and play with scale effects.
