Presented at the Annecy Festival, Perfume of Iraq traces the story of the Franco-Iraki journalist Ferat Alani. An intimate story that starts from his memories of vacation childhood in Iraq to adulthood, where he testified through his profession of the infernal gear of war. In the vein of films like Persepolis, Valse with Bachir or The Siren (see our Interview with Sepideh Farsi) Leonard Cohen's film traces the power of animated images to deliver a sensitive documentary that is full of narrative ideas.
