Adaptation of the original manga of Takashi Imashiro, Anzu, ghost cat was presented at the festival of Annecy 2024. Small animation pearl sublimated by rotoscopy, this anime is a French-Japanese coproduction between Miyu Production (Blind Willows, Sleeping Woman, Linda wants chicken, etc.) and the Shin-Ei studio. Animation. Karin, 11, is abandoned by his father at his grandfather's house, the monk of a small Japanese province town. He asks Anzu, his jovial and helpful cat-fantome, though quite capricious, to look after her. A film for young and old, worn by an incisive and striking dubbing, made by Miyu. Behind the laughter, however, this anime covers more intimate and sensitive themes than the gags of Anzu, feline erzatz of Onizuka and punk despite him: bitterness of teens, failing parenting and the search for an impossible mourning. We share with you our interview with Yōko Kuno and Nobuhiro Yamashita who together made the film!
