• Game bought on PS5
  • Main quest completed by not blinking enough eyes, in sweat but without tears...
  • ... with a cat who chose to lie on the controller in the middle of boss's fight, as if the challenge was not met enough!

After Resogun friendly available at the launch of PS4, a Alienation forgetable and one Nex Machina with a sweet arcade fragrance with nitroglycerin to name but them, The Finns of Housemarque came back at the end of April with a production of a whole other scale called Return AAA for Sony. Believe it. the recent acquisition of the studio by the Japanese company as well as its connection to the Playstation Studios, it seems that the sales were up to expectations. Congratulations to them! However, since everyone knows good sales are not a guarantee of quality, we would find Big MacsTM in the Michelin guide every year. What about the controller? Verdict after 39 hours and 33 deaths in a state of perpetual tachycardia.

In space, no one will hear you rage

Returnal is a third person shot game oriented rogue-lite. The player retains a tiny portion of his resources at each death, unlike his cousin's first rogue-like which sees your entire progression evaporate under your powerless gaze in case of death. Let it be said immediately you will often die in Return. Indeed, as a player would say to you to the productions From Software, the air exsanguates, the foam to the lips and the hands still trembling – Damn Sekiro monkey I'll never forget I hate you / I love you – : it is not the destination that counts, it is the road travelled. If you're still here reading me after these few warning lines then you may be one of those people who are not scared to the idea of taming the gameplay of a demanding game. Who perhaps knows that you even take pleasure in seeing a difficult game constantly putting walls between you and your goals so that the victory will be more rewarding. If so, why don't you sit in your masochist friend's chair and stay with me for a couple of minutes?

One day without end

The heroine Selene Vassos and the beloved Bill Murray have one thing in common in life: they live the same day forever. They have one second: in the film Groundhog Day literally translated by Marmot Day in Quebec, Murray shuns snowballs while during that time Selene dashe to avoid laser pellets. Truce of questionable comparisons! For today's astronaut, trepas is synonymous with an immediate return to the carcass of his ship. The vehicle, by its small name Helios, crashed after a storm as Selene explored the surface of the planet Atropos. It is at our first death that we really realize that we have changed generation so much the near absence of loading time is felt.

It is a real treat and we wonder how we would have done a few years earlier on the hard drive of a PS4 fat. The PS5's SSD and its fulcruming loading times make runs all more addictive than each other and we will soon be surprised to think that "in two seconds I'm going to the toilet" to meet one hour later to squander foolishly on his couch the bladder full to crack (intimate confession for this first test). Each return to square one means a new procedural generation of biomes as well as new objects, arrangements of rooms etc.... You will only retain certain resources from one party to another. These products will be useful to facilitate your progress by, for example, raising a makeshift check-point or a statistic bonus in a machine but we will return to it.

Technique with tuning and mystical sound ambience

Technically, the DualSense is intelligently deployed via its organic vibrations, as is Sony's patented 3D sound technology, which will not be too much once your head-mounted helmet to help you locate secrets and improvements hidden here and there behind the vegetation. Sound level We have a right. to a sumptuous compositional work by Bobby Krlic, which reminds us here Max Richter's best tracks for the movie Ad Astra or the piece The Alien Ben Salisbury and Geoff Barrow for Annihilation. With regard to the latter, it is even more possible to push the analogy between the two works by paralleling the cryptic side of their narrative. Return enjoy a mastered story with cleverly distilled understanding tracks but expect to finish the game with more questions than answers. Graphically the game rotates almost continuously at 60 FPS and constitutes a real visual slam, especially during the numerous fights that represent the heart of the game.

Who doesn't risk anything has nothing

Prepare to fight for your survival and evolve regularly in a flood of multicolored pellets! The creatures looking for Selenian occire are numerous and each of them has a pattern of attacks as well as a pattern of various pellets. It could have been feared that all these simultaneous stimuli would harm the visibility of the action, but it is felt that Housemarque has experience in the field of the livened arcade shooter. Indeed the commands of Sélène, often in sprint, jumping or playing grappling during the games, respond to the finger and eye. The environments are varied, the DA in tune and the panel of weapons rich. The rixes are of crazy intensity, special mention to some rooms towards the end of the game or to a few bosses that you will defeat on the thread of the razor, with the thriller ready to get out of his gonds.

Always regarding the progression each defeated enemy will give you obolites, a kind of extraterrestrial currency that Elon Musk would not deny and that you can exchange for statistical improvements available in the "stores". So far we're in the classic field, but now where Return pulls his pin from the game it's in the constant risk taking that he lets us gauge. In concrete terms this is manifested through objects, safes or resources that are corrupt. Are you going to take the risk of increasing your life with a resin if it causes you to suffer a penalizing dysfunction? Or transplant a parasite that will make you stronger for the next 10 Kills But who will then detach by multiplying the time to recharge your weapon by two? Your turn! The game does not impose a free and forced progression model on each player to adopt the approach that suits him best among the hundreds of possible strategies to see the end credits scroll.

Verdict
